To launch the new Recyclable Steel Logo, breakfast networking events were held in Sydney and Melbourne in July. Brand owners, packaging designers, manufacturers and environmental organisations were all represented in the audience.
In Sydney, Melinda Eskell, General Manager of Clemenger BBDO, gave a captivating talk on the power of packaging. Speaking as a consumer, a mother and a marketer, she outlined the way we have all become more discerning in our choices of products. Bombarded with thousands of messages every day, the message on the packet/can/carton is one of the most critical in shaping our choice.

In Melbourne, Raphael Geminder, Chairman of Visy Recycling, demonstrated the giant strides made by companies that have 'closed the loop'. By helping raise the rate of steel can recycling, industry, local government, the environment and consumers have all benefited.

Those who attended the logo launches were the first to receive the industry's new approved recycling identity, designed to be carried on all steel packaging within Australia.
