Every year the Steel Can Recycling Council monitors how local councils are doing and how the recycling of steel cans varies from state to state. These figures are correct at June 2004.

The national steel can recycling rate is now 43%, but recycling rates vary from state to state. This map shows how well all states are currently doing in the race to reach, by the end of 2004, the new target national steel can recycling rate of 50%.
